We are delighted to announce the 2nd International Conference on Discourse Pragmatics, which will take place online from October 20th to 22nd, 2023. The conference will focus on the theme of "Discourse Pragmatics: Current Topics and Future Trends."

Discourse Pragmatics is a rapidly developing field that explores the ways in which language is used to communicate meaning in context. How do people use language to achieve their communicative goals? How does context influence the interpretation of meaning? What is the pragmatics of different types of discourse such as conversation, storytelling, and academic writing? How do different languages differ in their pragmatics? How is the pragmatics of language affected by new technologies? To what extent does emotion or morality govern discourse communication? This conference aims to bring together established and emerging scholars from diverse backgrounds to explore the latest research and trends in Discourse Pragmatics.

This conference will be hosted by Zhejiang International Studies University located in Hangzhou, China, organized by the School of English Studies and the Institute of Discourse Pragmatics, and co-organized by Journal of Zhejiang International Studies University, Springer and John Benjamins. 3. To submit an abstract for a lecture, please send a document of no more than 300 words (including keywords and references) to dispragmatics@foxmail.com. The deadline for submission is 12:00 PM Beijing Time on July 15, 2023.

4. To submit your abstract, please ensure that it is in the MS Word format and the file is named "name + paper title." Additionally, please include a separate page that lists all authors' names, affiliations, professional titles, email addresses, and any other relevant information.

Best Paper Competition

We are pleased to announce the Best Paper Competition for unpublished full-text papers in the field of discourse pragmatics, aiming to encourage doctoral students to showcase their research. We welcome papers that explore various topics related to discourse pragmatics, which are not currently under review elsewhere. Doctoral students are invited to submit their papers to dispragmatics@foxmail.com by 12:00 PM Beijing Time on August 31st, 2023. We look forward to receiving your submissions!

There will be a maximum of four winners, among whom one will receive a complimentary private e-subscription to the journal Internet Pragmatics, published by John Benjamins, valid for one year. The remaining three winners will each receive a complimentary book from the Advances in (Im)politeness Studies series, which can be in either print or e-copy format, published by Springer.
