We are delighted to announce that the 2nd International Conference on Discourse Pragmatics will be held online from 20 to 22 October 2023. The conference will focus on the theme "Discourse Pragmatics: Current Topics and Future Trends."

Discourse Pragmatics is afast-developing field that explores the ways in which language is used to communicate meaning in context. How do people use language to achieve their communicative goals? How does context influence the interpretation of meaning? Whatisthe pragmatics ofvarious modes of discourse such as conversation, storytelling and academic writing? How do languages differ in their pragmatics? Howdonew technologies impact on language and communication?How does emotion or morality affect discourseandcommunication? This conference aims to bring together established and emerging scholars from diverse backgrounds todiscuss current issues and future directionsin Discourse Pragmatics.

This conference will be hosted by Zhejiang International Studies University, located in Hangzhou, China, organized by the School of English Studies and the Institute of Discourse Pragmatics, and co-organized by the Journal of Zhejiang International Studies University, Springer Nature and John Benjamins. Best Paper Competition

We are pleased to announce the Best Paper Competition for unpublished full-text papers in the field of discourse pragmatics with an aim to encourage doctoral students to showcase their research. We welcome papers thataddress various topics related to discourse pragmatics, which are not currently under review elsewhere.Doctoral students are invited to submit their papers to dispragmatics@foxmail.comno later than 31 August 2023(12:00 PM Beijing Time).

A maximum of four winners will be selected for this competition. The first place will receive a complimentary private e-subscription (valid for one year) toInternet Pragmatics, a peer-reviewed biannual journal published by John Benjamins, and the rest will each receive a complimentary (printed or electronic) copy of the book series Advances in (Im)politeness Studies, published by Springer.
